Information and Library Lending Policy

The Educational Resource Library provides resources to help county Extension agents and extension faculty and staff with instruction, research and outreach.

Patrons can search the library via the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may search by title, author, subject, keyword, call numbers, and series.

Library resources are limited; therefore, all items are scheduled on a first-come/first-serve basis.  We must ask your cooperation in ordering and returning curricula. Please DO NOT KEEP LIBRARY MATERIAL LONGER THAN THE SPECIFIED RETURN DATE. If you do, the next person will be unable to receive and use the material as planned.

When scheduling materials, please allow time for shipping. Allow 6 shipping days to get the material to you and 6 days to return it to the Library. You may keep an item for 10 working days. If you need it for a longer time, please let the Library know and we can extend your booking as long as no one else has it scheduled. No fee is charged for the use of library materials, but the borrower bears the expense of returning the materials. If you fail to receive your order or you discover any defective materials (missing or damaged slides, videos with tape covering the "no-record" tab, etc.) notify the Librarian immediately at (409) 845-2704. Otherwise, the borrower will be liable for any loss or damage (including erasing or recording over videos or audio tapes). A replacement cost will be charged.

When returning materials:

  • Rewind video and audio tapes.
  • Check to see that you have all slides and that they are in the correct order.
  • Return materials in the same container in which they were sent.
  • Return all supporting materials with the programs.
  • Return materials no later than 1 day after the last day they were booked.

  •

Using and Caring for Tapes

When a video or audio tape is in your machine, be careful not to engage any of the recording modes that will cause the tape to be erased. Do not replace the cassette on or near operating color television sets or any equipment that produces a strong electromagnetic field; this will also erase the tape. Many of the media materials are irreplaceable. Use with extreme care! It is understood that borrowers agree to abide by the following conditions:

  • A borrower may book no more than three titles in any given period of time.
  • Library material may not be copied, duplicated, cut, or altered in any way without written permission. Duplicating a tape or printed material may constitute a violation of copyright laws.
  • Be sure to have written authorization before using commercially produced slides or portions of videos on television programs.

Return materials on time! Another user's program may depend on it.
